Peltier Chiller

The peltier chiller I designed and constructed served to provide accurate temperature regulation for a live slice bath. By utilizing an arduino to trigger a MOSFET, power to an array of peltier coolers could be controlled. A thermocouple was added to provide feedback on the current water bath temperature. Once the temperature reaches the desired set point power is cut to the peltiers, and when it starts to warm again then power is turned back on. Hysteresis of 0.5°C was added as well. The temperature change was found to be slow enough that PID control was not necessary for this setup.

The peltier cooler system was coupled with a laser cutter chiller to remove the heat indiscriminately from the heat generating side of the peltiers.

A large OLED screen was added to allow the user to better visualize the target temperature they had set, as well as the current bath temperature to be able to know when it reached the target temp
